Discover the essential techniques for achieving flawless lamination results with our comprehensive guide. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned professional, our tips and tricks will help you achieve a seamless finish every time.

Understanding the Application Process

1. Prepare the Surface:

  • Clean the Deck surface: Ensure the area where you’ll apply the tape is clean, dry, and free of debris. Remove any loose material.

2. Measure and Cut the Tape:

  • Measure: Determine the length of tape needed for your application.
  • Cut: Use a sharp utility knife or scissors to cut the tape to the desired size.

3. Apply Resin:

  • Prime the surface: For optimal adhesion, apply a primer or in this case Resin specifically designed for fibreglass or roofing applications.
  • Lay out the Tape: Lay the tape along one run of joints at a time
  • Apply Resin: Apply a continuous run of Resin along the woven tape

4. Consolidate the Tape:

  • Consolidate: Use a roller or your Brush to firmly press the tape down onto the deck, ensuring the surface is smooth and bubble free.

5. Allow to Cure:

  • Cure time: Allow the Resin to cure completely according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

Tips:

  • Overlap: For extra reinforcement, overlap the ends of the tape slightly.
  • TOP TIP: is to install tapes in conjunction with the main laminate, this saves time, resin & ensures an overall better finish

  • Tension: Apply a slight tension to the tape as you press it down to ensure a secure bond.
  • Storage: Store unused tape in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight.

By following these steps and using fibreglass woven tape correctly, you can effectively reinforce and seal your roofing joints, enhancing the durability and longevity of your roof.

Efficient Installation Tip

Installing tapes alongside the main laminate can significantly streamline your roofing project. This method not only saves time but also reduces the amount of resin needed, resulting in a more cost-effective process. Additionally, using tapes ensures a superior finish, enhancing the overall durability and appearance of your roof.

By integrating tapes during the initial stages of lamination, you can achieve a seamless bond that strengthens the roof’s structure. This technique is especially beneficial for those looking to optimize their workflow and achieve professional-grade results with minimal effort. Embrace this time-saving strategy to elevate your roofing projects.

Common Problems:

Snagging

Creasing

Remedy

  • Cut shorter strips
  • Apply the main roof CSM over the woven during the laminating process
  • Use strips of CSM matting instead of the Woven bandage cut into Max 2m lengths (Roll up before laying for ease of application)

*Please note this video shows using CSM Tapes, this method works fine, CRS recommends woven tape for strength and long-term integrity

Understanding the Process

Step 1

Begin by gathering all necessary tools and materials for the project.

Step 2

Prepare the surface by ensuring it is clean, dry, and free from debris.

Step 3

Apply the woven tape carefully, ensuring a smooth and even finish.
